Leaders from around the world began negotiating a historic global plastics treaty on Monday in Punta del Este, Uruguay. As the negotiations unfold, the key messages that Only One and partners are pushing are:

We want the knowledge and expertise of waste pickers and indigenous communities to be recognized and implemented.
We need a legally binding international agreement to curb the plastic pollution crisis.
Plastic is a growing crisis for the environment, human health, human rights, biodiversity, and the climate — global actions to address it are urgently needed.
