Did you know that five shark species belong to a specific subgroup called “reef sharks”? 🦈 Blacktip reef sharks, whitetip reef sharks, gray reef sharks, Galapagos sharks, and Caribbean reef sharks are at their happiest in clear, warm, inshore waters. While younger reef sharks tend to stick to sandy flats, the adults are a bit more adventurous and love to spend time swimming around reef ledges and drop-offs. One of the most fascinating facts about reef sharks is that they’re particularly sociable with each other. Reef sharks form close bonds as part of large schools, with a clearly defined hierarchy according to size. However, these sharks are much more timid around other predators; their philosophy, if they had one, would definitely be “strength in numbers!”
