Canadian government will protect capelin under the Fisheries Act

Earlier this year you stood up for a tiny forage fish, called capelin. While the fishery was not closed this year, we did make big waves thanks to your support. The Canadian government began the process to list capelin under an important law that will give them, along with 61 more fish stocks, much-needed protections. Once formally listed, the government must provide a health status for the capelin population, as well as a plan for how they’ll manage and rebuild the fish stock.

This is a huge step forward, and we can keep demanding for more with your help! Share our petition with your friends and family, and add your name if you haven’t already to continue fighting for the underdogs of the sea.
