Today, an overwhelming majority of countries voted in favor of the largest shark protection measure in CITES history — precisely what our global campaign was advocating for. Thank you to the nearly 150,000 supporters around the world who joined this campaign, the NGO partners and scientists who worked tirelessly on this proposal, and to the leaders who acted to protect these vital species.

This is a beautiful victory shared and shaped by so many different contributors, and the benefits of this decision will have a positive impact on shark populations — and our planet — for years to come.

But the work to save the ocean and its ecosystems can’t stop here. This shows that when we speak up, we can win — for the ocean, the planet, and our shared future. Let’s keep this momentum going. In honor of today’s win, we ask that you sign the petition to protect 30% of the global ocean by 2030.
