Mangroves are home to a huge number of ocean creatures, land-dwellers, and coastal birds, with the magnificent frigatebird, also known as “flying pirate bird,” found soaring across the leafy mangrove turrets throughout Florida, the Caribbean islands, and along the Pacific coast of the Americas from Mexico to Ecuador. When they’re not settled into their coastal mangrove nests, they can be airborne for up to a month and a half! 🏴‍☠🪶
