Once a year, when the lunar cycle and water temperature aligns, entire colonies of coral reefs simultaneously release spawning organisms into the ocean, creating a gamete “blizzard” ripe for coral fertilization. Once the coral larvae form, they float in the ocean for many days or even weeks before eventually settling on the seafloor, growing into fresh new coral formations once the conditions are just right 🌙
