Cigarette butts are the most common form of marine litter, a small but mighty threat made up from long-lasting toxic chemicals and cellulose acetate, a pervasive plastic-like material found in the filter. Ocean advocates and beach cleaners are helping to act and educate both on and off the shore, with the Marine Debris Tracker app encouraging us to not only clean our beaches, collect our rubbish, and dispose of it responsibly, but to report on what we found and where we found it to help aid data research and create real impact 🌊🚮
