Mangroves grow in the intertidal swamps on subtropical coasts, surviving the inhospitable ocean waters by filtering up to 90% of salt found in seawater through their ingenious roots. Some species, like the one pictured here, excrete this salt through unique glands, leaving tiny salt crystals found settling on their thick green leaves 🧂🌿
