The fast-growing, carbon-hungry, (and foul-smelling!) Sargassum seaweed has become part of an efficient carbon farm in the aquaculture industry. As a hopeful and natural method of carbon sequestration, bales of the seaweed swathes are sunk to the bottom of the ocean before they have a chance to decompose at sea level, and release the carbon already absorbed π±π
