Found nestled in cozy coral crests on shallow fringing reefs, the aptly named redlip blenny or “devilfish” is a territorial local, bearing two menacing, fang-like teeth to scare off potential intruders and trespassers trying to share scarce resources. These scaleless, slimy fish stick to coral reefs with a strong current and wave motions, possessing the ability to jump from tide pool to tide pool to feast on algae and zooplankton.
