Blacktip reef sharks are typically found swimming in shallow tropical and subtropical waters, easily identified by their black-tipped fins and tendency to stick to the safety of sheltered coral coves. Known locally in Hawaii as Manō Pā‘ele, these sharks are timid, shy, and well respected, playing a vital role in maintaining a balanced and healthy reef ecosystem by feasting on fish and patrolling the waters 🦈
