The bountiful seagrass in our photo today is known as an “ecosystem engineer,” as it is a powerful marine resource able to absorb carbon an astonishing 35 times faster than the Amazon rainforest. These supercharged seafloor meadows are responsible for storing more than 10% of the carbon in our global seas, despite covering only roughly 0.1% of the ocean floor, making seagrass a precious natural asset that we must continue to protect 🥽
