These enchanting parrotfish are reef locals, found snacking on algae-rich corals settled in warm tropical waters. Armed with continuously growing rows of thousands of fused-together teeth forming what many refer to as a “beak,” parrotfish grind and digest coral, excreting up to 800 pounds of sand a year — that’s equivalent to the weight of a leopard seal! 🏝
