The planet’s ocean gardens are filled with myth and magic, but Gorgonian corals are a very real reef resident with about 500 species to their name. Incidentally, their “Gorgonian” namesake is derived from a famous Greek myth: the Gorgons, three unwieldy sisters with coiling snakes for hair and the ability to turn unwitting onlookers into stone.
