Swaying in a distinctive and dynamic way, sea anemones make their homes in wild coral gardens around the world, and are closely relatives of both coral and jellyfish species. They provide a safe haven to over 25 species of clownfish in the tropics, forming a dependable symbiotic partnership with these famous fish, each offering the other protection from predators and a fair exchange of nutrients. Typically resplendent in color, sea anemones can bleach as a result of high temperature episodes, with their tentacles turning a ghostly white. Itโs been reported that clownfish can help restore their homes to health, with a study finding that after hosting a clownfish for 106 days, bleached sea anemones were fully recovered ๐ ๐
