The past three decades have seen the devastating loss of over 8,600 square kilometers of mangrove forests, a distance larger than the city of Tokyo. We can trace the causes back to the climate crisis, with tropical cyclones, sea-level rise, and global warming all contributing to a drastic loss, as well as human-driven agricultural practices.
