Netherlands-based organization the Great Bubble Barrier has made waves in the plastic prevention effort, helping to intercept waste before it reaches the ocean with an unobtrusive perforated tube placed at the bottom of rivers, canals, and waterways. The angled stream of air generates a fish-friendly “curtain” of rising bubbles, both suspending plastics to the water’s surface, and reducing the sound of ship traffic in the marine environment 🐟
