Ocean trees thrive in the intertidal zone, the band of coast that’s submerged in water at high tide and left exposed during low tide. Mangroves need to expose their roots to sea air at least once a day to “breathe” and absorb oxygen from the atmosphere, but the threat of ever rising sea levels are putting mangroves at risk of drowning. We’re seeing an increasing case of ocean forests escaping their flooded habitat by migrating to higher ground, a response to the climate crisis and mangrove deforestation. Only One members are funding the invaluable revitalisation of shores through our planting partners, Eden Reforestation Projects and Wetlands International. We couldn’t do it without you! 🌊 🌿
