New Zealand has become the first country in the world to ban single-use produce bags at grocery stores, as well as banning the manufacture, sale, and distribution of single-use plates, bowls, and cutlery! This movement is expected to eliminate 150 million plastic produce bags — or 17,000 plastic bags every hour — from circulation in New Zealand each year, a fantastic example for other countries and governments to follow suit.
