Photo of the day

Kelp is a type of seaweed found in dense underwater forests along 25% of coastlines globally. It grows fast — up to two feet per day! Breaking loose from rocky shorelines and floating out to sea, kelp carries carbon that ultimately sinks to the ocean floor. If undisturbed, that carbon remains deep under the water for millions of years, making kelp a critical tool for carbon capture and storage in our efforts to tackle climate change.
