Seagrass is a carbon-hungry ocean hero home to a wide range of marine creatures, from the humble sea sponge to the majestic semi-terrestrial reptile we see patrolling the waters today! As well as providing a safe and happy habitat for an abundance of animals, fish, and invertebrates, seagrass meadows are a vital resource for carbon sequestration, accumulating vast amounts of carbon over time and storing it almost entirely in soils up to four meters deep! π
