In the heart of Kenya’s coastline, local communities are rallying to plant one million ocean trees to restore native forests and tackle climate change — and this inspiring, important project is funded by you, our members! Port Reitz creek is home to mangrove forests and exquisite reefs, but the the El Niño ocean warming event of 1997 to 1998 destroyed many mangroves, and Port Reitz has been affected by illegal tree cutting, pollution, coral mining, and conversion of forest for aquaculture and bridge construction. Through mangrove planting, local people employed by our partner Eden Reforestation Projects are helping restore Port Reitz’s coastal and marine ecosystems back to health. We’re proud that 100% of of Only One members’ funds go to impact like this, to help save the ocean and fix the climate 💚🌱
