In a beautiful area just off the coast of Nusa Penida — an Indonesian island measuring about 80 square miles (209 square kilometers) — our partner Ocean Gardener is in the process of planting 10,000 corals on behalf of Only One members. The project protects wildlife, supports local incomes, and restores damaged reefs to health through mariculture, cultivating corals in their natural environment. We recently received an update from project leader Vincent Chalias that the Ocean Gardener team has transferred a total of 7,000 corals to the reef 👏 This included over five species (such as Acropora abrotanoides, Acropora cerealis, Acropora hyacinthus, Acropora tenuis, and Hydnophora excess) selected to complement Nusa Penida’s high-energy reef ecosystem, and all appear in good condition. We’re excited for the remaining 3,000 corals to be restored as part of Ocean Gardener’s project, and to see your impact come to life!
