Mangrove forests and wildlife are the best of friends, and can’t live without each other! Lying at the land-sea interface, mangroves provide habitat for an extensive range of terrestrial and marine species. Mangrove forests are home to multiple threatened species such as birds, reptiles, proboscis monkeys, jaguars, and Bengal tigers, as well as crustaceans, mollusks, fish, and large ocean animals including sharks, turtles, dolphins, manatees and dugongs, and crocodiles and alligators. The strong connections between mangrove trees and biodiversity makes their protection imperative.
