Seagrass is a fantastic carbon-sequestering ocean resource, but our rich marine meadows are shrinking by a devastating 7% each year, equivalent to a football pitch vanishing every 30 minutes. Despite its absorbent efficiency, seagrass restoration is labor-intensive, with a survival rate of seagrass seeds sitting at just 10%. In the UK, a consortium of ocean organizations are working against the odds to restore 3,000 hectares of meadows by 2030, an area that could mitigate the emissions of 3,000 small cars, and nourish a habitat for billions of ocean creatures.
