When it comes to mangroves — ocean trees that store carbon dioxide in their web of roots and branches, helping reverse climate change — we’re often asked whether planting or restoration projects come with risks. The answer is that some projects are unfortunately unsuccessful due to improper location selection, inadequate species matching, incorrect regeneration techniques, and failure to actively involve local communities.
