Example comment
I wish for France to become an international example in the field of marine biodiversity protection and finally align itself with scientific and international standards, as well as the guidelines of the European Union. Therefore, the National Strategy for the Sea and Coast should: 1) Strengthen the definition of “strong protection” in French legislation by aligning it with European “strict protection”; 2) Strictly protect 10% of each maritime front and each overseas basin; and 3) Adopt the definition of a marine protected area (MPA) according to the criteria of the IUCN and apply it to 33% of French waters covered by MPAs.
