The Costa Rican president, Carlos Alvarado Quesada, has officially ended his term without signing a decree to provide critical protection to the country’s sharks. A new president, Rodrigo Chaves, will now take office, but the fight to protect vulnerable sharks in Costa Rica continues.

We are hopeful for a better future and remain confident that through collective action we can still save species on the edge of extinction, such as Costa Rica’s critically endangered scalloped hammerhead sharks. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on new developments in the campaign, and until then, you can sign and share the petition to continue making your voice heard.
